Artificial Intelligence (AI) Disclosure
With the rise of artificial intelligence being used as a tool among content creators, I feel it is important to be transparent regarding its usage across this site.
I know how controversial this topic is right now in the publishing space, and I am taking this opportunity to disclose how my team and I use AI to create content.
Our Rules
Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools are allowed to be used in the following areas, when needed:
Idea Generation
AI is used for inspiration to come up with topics to write about something new or different outside of our general content areas.
Post Writing
All post outlines are first written by the main author and then reviewed and edited by another team member.
All post wording is first written by the main author and then reviewed and edited by another team member.
After post has been written, reviewed and edited by two team members, main author will share it with AI for targeted refinement. For example, to check for overlooked grammatical errors or ask for recommendations to add other illustrative components like charts, tables, schedules.
Images
We use a mix of original images (personally sourced by our team members), free stock photos from sites like Pexels, as well as AI-generated.
Starting April 1, 2025, for all posts published after this date, we will be disclosing the name of the person who directly owns or has licensing rights underneath each photo. And for an image that was created using artificial intelligence, it will be marked as “ai-generated” in the caption underneath as well.
Overall, we treat AI like our intern and not as our CEO. We use it for basic tasks and provide it with a lot of direction for the exact output requested. We are still learning how to best use it, without disrupting our whole content creation process, as it’s new for us too.
Lastly, we are a team of neighbors that live in the same town on the southern coast of North Carolina. We work full-time jobs, and in our free time creating content is what we like to do. We focus on improving our writing styles, traveling to new beach areas, taking and sharing coastal home decor pictures, and brainstorming on how to better connect with our readers.
